On Thursday, November 21, the nation will celebrate Rural Health Day, an annual observance that shines a light on how rural hospitals and health systems work tirelessly to guarantee all patients in every community have equitable access to timely, high-quality, affordable care.
From sparse transportation options, to workforce shortages, to insufficient Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement rates — hospitals and care providers serving rural areas face significant challenges and are constantly developing innovative solutions to overcome those obstacles.
State Comptroller Sean Scanlon’s Healthcare Cabinet has convened a Rural Healthcare Subcommittee, co-chaired by Kyle Kramer, CEO of Day Kimball Healthcare, to examine many of these issues and identify tools to combat disparities.
