WALLINGFORD – The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) released the following statement in response to the hospital tax provisions included in the Connecticut House Republican Caucus’s budget proposal released today:
“We appreciate the strong support from legislators in demonstrating their commitment to advancing a new hospital tax model that protects patients and preserves access to lifesaving care. The model included in today’s House Republican budget proposal aligns with the approach hospitals have been advocating for and reflects the commitment shared by leaders of the Appropriations and Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committees. It is a model designed to maximize federal funding in support of patient care while establishing a sustainable, long-term framework for the state’s healthcare delivery system that begins to recognize the significant challenges of Medicaid underpayment.
“We urge continued momentum to advance this new hospital tax model. With federal changes requiring timely submission and significant demands on lawmakers during the legislative session, prompt action is essential to ensure stability for providers and for the patients and communities they serve.”
