AIM | The Art of Perinatal Mental Health Screening: Hospital-Based Screening, Resources and Referral – 7/29/2026

A key component of the AIM Perinatal Mental Health Conditions Patient Safety Bundle is the routine identification and assessment of mental health conditions during pregnancy and the postpartum period. This training will provide healthcare professionals with practical guidance on screening for common perinatal mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and postpartum psychosis. Participants will learn best practices for implementing screening protocols in clinical settings, responding to positive screens, and supporting timely referrals to appropriate care.

 Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify validated screening tools for use during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
  2. Interpret screening results and distinguish between varying levels of risk and urgency.
  3. Describe appropriate follow-up and referral practices following a positive screen.
  4. Identify at least three support and treatment resources for perinatal people.
