Yale New Haven Health opened a new urgent care clinic in the Hartford area on Friday.

The clinic, located at 2955 Main St. in Glastonbury, is the first Yale New Haven Health urgent care clinic in the town.

Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care, previously PhysicianOne Urgent Care, operates more than 20 urgent care centers throughout Connecticut and New York. In addition to the Glastonbury location, Yale New Haven has four clinics in Hartford County including in Bristol, Enfield, Manchester and West Hartford.

Yale New Haven officials said the urgent care centers allow for coordinated care and easier referrals to primary, specialty, and sub-specialty services when needed.

“Yale New Haven Health’s presence in Hartford County marks an exciting milestone for our health system as we continue to grow our services across the state,” said Christopher O’Connor, chief executive officer, YNHHS. “Our Urgent Care clinics bring the excellence of Yale New Haven Health providers to patients in the communities where they live and work.”

Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care centers treat wounds, sprains, strains and burns; complete school, camp and sports physicals; treat pediatric injuries and concerns including strep throat, ear infections, eye infections and flu; and perform X-rays for dislocated joints, fractures, and pneumonia; among other urgent illnesses and conditions, officials said.

The expansion into Hartford County comes after Yale New Haven’s primary competitor, Hartford HealthCare, has been rapidly expanding its GoHealth Urgent Care clinics across the state. Earlier this month, Hartford HealthCare opened new urgent care centers in Willimantic and Ellington. With the expansion, GoHealth Urgent Care clinics now number 35 locations across the state, according to Hartford HealthCare.

Officials with Yale New Haven said its urgent care clinics offer locally staffed, 24/7 telehealth for patients.

All of the Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care locations are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Officials said patients can walk in or reserve an in-person or virtual telehealth appointment online.
