State auditors: Nearly 1 in 5 DDS investigations of abuse and neglect faced delays

A report released by the state auditor’s office Thursday found that there were delays in nearly 20% of the Department of Developmental Services’ investigations into neglect and abuse of people with intellectual disabilities.

The auditors’ report said the delays may have resulted in the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) failing to detect abuse and/or neglect as quickly as it could or should.
