Medicare’s AI push snarls patients and doctors in errors and delays

A new Medicare pilot program called WISeR is requiring prior authorization for certain procedures in six states, including Oklahoma, and while it aims to reduce fraud and unnecessary care using AI-assisted reviews, many patients and doctors report delays, extra appointments, payment backlogs, confusion, and possible errors that they say are creating burdens similar to those seen with private insurance.
