Dental surgery center operator outlines plans for five additional CT locations

A Fairfield-based dental surgery center operator is moving forward with plans to expand across Connecticut nearly two years after proposing a statewide network of dental surgery centers.

In 2024, Hartford Business Journal reported that two Connecticut dentists had filed plans to establish dental ambulatory surgery centers in six markets across the state. New filings submitted to the state Office of Health Strategy show that Dental Sedation Center of Connecticut LLC has since opened its first facility in Fairfield and plans additional centers in the Hartford, Stamford, New Haven, New London and Danbury areas.

According to the filings, the centers will provide dental and oral surgery services under general anesthesia for children, adults and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The company said the facilities are intended to help provide access to dental procedures that might otherwise be delayed due to hospital capacity constraints.

The centers would provide procedures including cavity treatment, tooth extractions, oral rehabilitation, jaw surgery, bone grafting and tooth replacement.

The company, led by CEO Dr. Seth Podolsky, estimates the expansion could cost between $10 million and $15 million. Its filings project openings beginning with a Hartford-area location in late 2026, followed by centers in Stamford, New Haven, New London and Danbury through 2027.

OHS recently concluded that the planned facilities can move forward without certificate-of-need review, a state approval process required for certain healthcare facility projects and expansions.
