The Connecticut Department of Public Health is endorsing the American Academy of Pediatrics’ 2026 childhood vaccination recommendations.
The endorsement aligns the state’s policies with guidance from the country’s leading children’s health organization, according to a community announcement.
“The AAP’s immunization schedule incorporates well-established, science-driven recommendations that physicians, public health officials, and parents can rely on to keep children healthy and communities protected,” Manisha Juthani, DPH commissioner, said, according to the announcement. “These recommendations remain consistent with the current protocols we have relied on to protect Connecticut children and minimize the risk of preventable disease.”
The state joins nearly a dozen professional medical societies across the country in supporting the new recommendations. DPH affirmed its commitment to the existing vaccine schedule for children and adolescents earlier in January.
Connecticut is among 15 states in the Governors Public Health Alliance that have chosen not to adopt changes to the vaccine schedule proposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“Public health policy in Connecticut will continue to be driven by the best available evidence-based research and data,” Juthani said. “Our responsibility to the health of our residents requires nothing less.”
