A new medical practice that puts prevention in the patient care spotlight has been opened in Connecticut by two doctors who are married.

Dr. Talal Khan, who owns the new Khan Longevity Care and accompanying Nida Medspa with his wife, Dr. Nida Kahn, said they felt most primary care is “reactive” and not enough emphasis put on lifestyle, such as obesity, exercise, healthful eating and sleep.

Their goal is for patients to live longer and with high quality of life.

“We’re invested in people feeling good, looking good,” Talal Kahn said. “We believe in the philosophy of prevention, proactive care.”

The care at Kahn Longevity Care, 15 Palomba Drive, Enfield, is more “unhurried” and personal, he said.

“We take the time to understand each person’s unique health profile and build a plan that supports not just treating illness, but preventing it and improving overall quality of life,” Kahn said.

The couple has two Longevity practices in western Massachusetts and recently opened a first in Connecticut in Enfield.

They also are located in Springfield and East Longmeadow, the latter with more than 8,000 patients. In Massachusetts patients collectively have lost more than 10,000 pounds.

We thought, “We should go into Connecticut and bring the message of wellness.”

He said patients come in with different goals and medical situations.

They could have asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, or obesity.

At the root of most chronic illness is obesity, lack of exercise, poor nutrition and poor sleep, he said.

He said in helping people lose weight they prescribe the latest drugs and monitor their muscle to fat ratio while helping them reach goal.

“I think weight is tremendously important,” said Kahn, who has a specialty in that area. He said they emphasize fixing metabolic dysfunction to metabolic optimization. They also have access to advanced cancer screenings so disease can be caught earlier.

With the concierge service, which costs extra out of pocket, patients will be connected with doctor or other medical care provider in an hour when they need one.

The different tiers of concierge services are $199 per month, $399 per month (the most popular), and $799 per month. The latter can include a doctor coming to one’s office.

He said the Medspa, a separate business founded by his wife, offer aesthetic and wellness treatments that complement the medical services.

Those aesthetic services pair nicely because people want to look good to feel good and things like Botox and other procedures address that.

“I’ve always treated disease,” Kahn said. “In this model I’m trying to keep people healthy.”

Khan said he knows a lot about obesity drugs and is knowledgeable in peptides.

“My goal is to make healthy communities,” he said. “It’s my passion to help people live healthy and long. We’re excited for this new chapter in Connecticut.”

Patients in Massachusetts rave about the care at the practices there.

“Working with Dr. Khan at Khan Longevity Care has been a complete game changer for my health,” one patient reviewer wrote online.

“Unlike standard check-ups, the in-depth biomarker testing provided a level of insight I’ve never had before.” the patient wrote. “Having direct physician access to discuss these results meant I wasn’t just looking at numbers; I was truly understanding my body.”

Another patient wrote: “I expected a welcoming atmosphere and a high level of expertise from Dr. Khan and his staff—and that has absolutely been the case.

“What I didn’t expect was the level of sophistication and the state-of-the-art tools he uses to develop a truly personalized approach to long-term health and wellbeing. The advanced biomarker analytics and metabolic testing they perform have given me a new level of insight into my own health and have established a meaningful baseline to monitor progress and identify potential warning signs early.”
