CT’s hospital receives $1M gift from ‘longtime supporters and philanthropists’

Middlesex Health has received a $1,000,000 donation from two of its “longtime supporters and philanthropists,” according to a statement.

The gift comes from Sally and George Mayer of Essex, who “have served as corporators, volunteers, major donors and fundraising leaders for Middlesex Health,” according to Middlesex Health.

“For more than 40 years, Sally and George Mayer have helped shape the future of healthcare in our community through their vision, leadership and generosity,” said Vincent Capece, President and CEO of Middlesex Health. “Their extraordinary support has touched countless lives and strengthened Middlesex Health’s ability to provide exceptional care. We are deeply grateful for this remarkable gift and proud to honor their enduring legacy through the dedication of the Mayer Pavilion.”

Additionally, “The Mayers have been committed supporters of the Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center and co-chaired the capital campaign that raised more than $6 million to help build the new facility, which relocated from its smaller space in Essex to Westbrook in 2014,” according to a statement. “The Center provides around-the-clock emergency care, cancer care, diagnostic imaging and other outpatient services to shoreline communities. Their generosity also helped establish the center’s radiology department, which bears the Mayer name.”

“In addition, The Mayer Center in Essex stands as a testament to the Mayers’ generosity and dedication to improving healthcare in the community,” Middlesex Health went on to say. “Opened in 2022, the center provides comprehensive developmental services for children and adolescents with autism and other developmental challenges.”

“To recognize their extraordinary commitment, Middlesex Health will dedicate the Mayer Pavilion at Shoreline Medical Center during a special ceremony on Tuesday, June 23, at 4:30 p.m. at 250 Flat Rock Place in Westbrook,” according to a statement.
