New Public-Facing Dashboard Tracks Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act Data

The Connecticut Data Collaborative (CTData) — in collaboration with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), and in partnership with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) — developed an interactive dashboard to display data related to the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA).

The dashboard allows hospitals, community partners, and the public to explore a wide range of indicators by hospital — including total number of notifications, percentage of cases with a developed family care plan, whether a child abuse report was made, demographic characteristics of a birthing person, and information about services that were provided, requested, or referred.

Users can easily navigate from a statewide view of data to a more tailored view, both by year and by hospital.  The introductory page describes CAPTA legislation with a brief overview of the dashboard.  Tabs located at the top of the page indicate data points (Summary Data and Family Care Plan Detail Report) that can be explored both individually and comparatively by selecting a year and hospital, or on a statewide level by year.  Facilities reporting fewer than 100 notifications are grouped into a single category to protect privacy.  The dashboard will be updated annually and currently displays information for the years 2019-2024.
