The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) has released a fact sheet concerning firearm safety practices to be provided by healthcare providers to their patients.
Effective July 2024, per Sec 17 of PA 24-19, An Act Concerning The Health And Safety Of Connecticut Residents, DPH was charged with creating firearm safety educational material to be distributed by primary care providers.
This fact sheet is available to all primary care and hospital providers in Connecticut at no cost. Primary care providers should make the fact sheet available to each patient on an annual basis, or at each appointment if the patient visits the primary care provider less frequently than annually.
The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) has long supported and advocated for gun safety and injury prevention initiatives that seek to reduce the number of injuries and deaths.
