Opinion: Snowed in, shut out: Senate moves ’emergency’ bill without hearings

The Connecticut State Senate is preparing to vote today on more than a dozen “emergency certified” bills — many of which never received public hearings — raising renewed concerns about transparency at the State Capitol

The timing has drawn particular attention. The push comes immediately after a major winter storm battered Connecticut, dumping snow statewide, creating hazardous travel conditions, triggering a gubernatorial emergency declaration, and forcing the closure of the State Capitol to the public.
