Opinion: Sky-high emergency room numbers tell us CT needs a new vision for children’s mental health

Sarah Eagan, Executive Director of the Center for Children’s Advocacy, opines that chronic underinvestment and lack of preventive care in behavioral health has resulted in a backlog of children in emergency departments waiting for treatment. Eagan says Connecticut must have a Children and Families Agenda and create a comprehensive vision for health, education, and wellness in this state (and in this country), and reject policies that lurch us from one spending cycle to the next.
