New Connecticut law caps generic drug price increases

A new Connecticut law that took effect January 1 prohibits manufacturers and wholesale distributors from increasing generic prescription drug prices beyond the annual rate of inflation, making the state the first in the nation to enact such legislation.

The bipartisan measure, proposed by Gov. Ned Lamont, targets generic drugs that were once significantly cheaper than brand-name medications but have seen dramatic price increases in recent years.
