Hartford HealthCare (HHC) and the University of New Haven said Tuesday they have formed a partnership that will include the health system operating the university’s on-campus student health center.

HHC will also oversee UNH’s counseling and psychological services, they said.

The collaboration also extends to athletic training, providing specialized sports medicine and rehabilitation care for the university’s student-athletes.

The partnership will feature enhanced on-campus services that include virtual care options, providing UNH students with access to medical and mental health support anytime, anywhere via HHC’s telehealth platform.

UNH, located in West Haven with branch campuses in Orange and Tuscany, Italy, has 9,229 students enrolled in the current academic year, including 7,830 who attend full-time. It is the sixth school in the state to join HHC’s Campus Cares program, but the first using its advanced technology.

The Campus Cares program offers various services, such as primary care, preventative screenings, mental health referrals, and off-site urgent care.

The partnership will officially begin this summer in advance of the start of the 2025-26 academic year, with plans for expansion and enhancement in the future, officials said.
