The Council on Medical Assistance Program Oversight (MAPOC) heard details of a future of increased costs for the state and decreased health care services for residents without major changes to the federal budget currently being negotiated in Washington.
Peter Hadler, deputy commissioner of the Department of Social Services, laid out a series of cuts and changes to federal programs that could cost the state tens of millions of dollars, and cause thousands of residents to lose access to health insurance and food assistance.
