Department says seniors’ needs being met despite coordinator position cut

A state legislator is raising concerns about the elimination of a statewide senior center coordinator position and its impact on the state’s older population — but the state’s Department of Aging and Disability Services says it will continue to meet the needs of the state’s senior population.

The senior center coordinator acted as a liaison between senior center directors and the state legislature, and would also help with questions about things such as Medicare and the American Rescue Plan Act, according to Joel Sekorski, director of services for the elderly at the Sullivan Senior Center in Torrington.
