Bill to strengthen dementia training for home care workers heads to Governor’s desk

With an increasing number of aging residents with chronic conditions choosing to remain in their homes, the Senate early Wednesday gave final passage to a bill that advocates say will improve the quality and safety of home-based care in Connecticut.

The bill, House Bill 5143, An Act Requiring Training for Homemaker‑Companion Agency Employees, establishes standardized, mandatory training requirements for employees of homemaker‑companion agencies — a rapidly growing sector of Connecticut’s home care industry.
