State leaders celebrate women’s progress, but say there’s still work to be done

On a day to commemorate women’s suffrage, a bipartisan group of state leaders celebrated the progress women have made over the last 100 years in the state, but agreed that more work remains to be done.

The state Department of Health has instituted programs designed to support women’s unique health problems. Commissioner Manisha Juthani described the Orange Bracelet Initiative, where women who have recently given birth are given orange bracelets to inform healthcare providers.
