HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – Troubling new numbers about kids’ mental health are a wake-up call for parents. Connecticut Children’s says nearly one in five children screened in its emergency department shows some level of suicide risk, even kids as young as 7.
“Kids are in crisis, and they’re really struggling. They have a lot of stress. They have a lot of connectivity. And I think that contributes to their stress,” said Dr. Steven Rogers, who leads emergency health services at Connecticut Children’s.
