The first webinar, being held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. is entitled “Introduction to the World of Medicare” and will introduce participants to the world of Medicare and the Fiscal Intermediary Shared System Direct Data Entry (FISS DDE) provider online system.

Attendees will learn the Medicare billing basics: what it is, how to check if a patient is covered, and how to submit claims.  The presenters will also discuss the system used to process claims, why Medicare suspends, denies, rejects, or returns claims, and how to submit adjustments or corrections.

The second webinar, being held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. is entitled “A Deeper Dive into the World of Medicare Billing” and will present information on specific Medicare topics, including: hospital inpatient interim billing, interrupted stays and leaves of absence, benefits exhausted days, hospital stays that don’t meet inpatient criteria, the two-midnight policy, the Targeted Probe & Educate (TPE) program, Medically-Unlikely Edits (MUEs), skilled nursing facility (SNF) consolidated billing and its impact on hospitals, and Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) billing and the Benefits Coordination & Recovery Center (BCRC).

This two-part webinar series will be held on Wednesday, December 4 and Wednesday, December 11.
