The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) has launched a grassroots campaign providing hospital supporters with a link allowing them to email their local lawmakers directly with a message explaining the importance of removing harmful provisions from the state budget, including proposals that would increase taxes on hospitals and slash payments without improving Medicaid reimbursement to hospitals.
The Connecticut General Assembly is expected to finalize and vote on the state budget in the coming days. If passed, these provisions would not only fail to address the $1.4 billion annual Medicaid shortfall experienced by hospitals each year but would also worsen the challenges they already face.
Hospital supporters are encouraged to add their voice by visiting the CHA website’s Action Center. Scroll down to complete and submit the form, which will send an email to the sender’s local lawmakers. The form is prepopulated with a message containing important budget details and can be personalized.
