Travelers moving through Bradley International Airport each day can now access “on-the-go” health care without leaving the terminal.
Hartford HealthCare announced Tuesday it is partnering with medical equipment supplier OnMed to launch the nation’s first OnMed CareStation at an airport. The CareStation unit is located inside Terminal A at Bradley, on the departures level in front of the Frontier Airlines ticket counter.
Designed for privacy and equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, the CareStation allows users to privately connect virtually with a licensed clinical healthcare provider for a one-on-one visit.
The walk-in station utilizes high-definition cameras, real-time diagnostics and advanced health technology to allow providers to evaluate and diagnose patients and prescribe treatment.
According to OnMEd, healthcare providers can address up to 85% of conditions typically seen in a primary care visit, including respiratory illnesses, allergies, headaches, heartburn and infections.
Prescriptions and follow-up referrals are available on the spot, with no appointment needed. The CareStation offers extended hours seven days a week.
The OnMed CareStation also provides immediate access to care for airport employees and flight crews, the organizations said.
The Bradley installation follows successful launches at Stop & Shop in Killingly and The Villages in downtown Hartford. Each now averages more than 100 visits per month.
