Supporting Behavioral Health Providers: Resources for Healing After Loss of Client to Suicide


The CT Zero Suicide Learning Community (CT ZSLC) and Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) are sharing resources designed to support behavioral health providers who have lost a client to suicide.

The new video series and fact sheet were developed by the University of Oklahoma’s Suicide Prevention Resource Center.  In these brief videos, providers share their experiences of client suicide loss and emphasize the importance of practicing self-compassion, seeking support, and honoring the client’s life.

The accompanying fact sheet offers practical recommendations to help organizations support providers who have lost a client to suicide, as well as a list of related resources.

CT ZSLC is an open group of the CT Suicide Advisory Board that convenes employees of health and behavioral healthcare institutions and partnering organizations involved in continuous quality improvement to prevent suicide.
