State Agencies Jointly Release New Guide for Navigating Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care

The Connecticut Departments of Public Health (DPH) and Aging and Disability Services (ADS) have released a guide with resources to support Connecticut residents who are caregivers of someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias (ADRD).  The comprehensive guide, called Your Guide for Navigating Dementia Care, includes details on the types of dementia, warning signs, what to expect at each stage of dementia, strategies to improve communication, helpful tips for caregivers, and valuable Connecticut-based and national resources.  The guide is free and available in both English and Spanish.

The English and Spanish versions of the guide, a promotional poster, and a wallet-size reference card were designed to help Connecticut residents, families, community agencies, and healthcare providers looking for dementia care resources.  Caregivers and individuals living with ADRD helped create the guide to ensure it reflects their needs and features relevant resources.
