On October 21, the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) hosted its annual Regulatory Compliance Conference in Wallingford — offering a focused lineup of speakers, timely content, and actionable insights for hospital compliance professionals. With regulatory requirements evolving rapidly, the conference provided participants with a timely opportunity to explore new state laws, share experiences, and discuss actionable guidance.
The event kicked off with a comprehensive review of recent Connecticut legislation affecting hospitals, including newly enacted statutes addressing the expanded enforcement authority of the Department of Public Health (DPH), emergency department operations, changes to hospital leadership licensing requirements, and strengthened patient protections.
The conference also featured sessions focused on: artificial intelligence (AI) governance in healthcare to explore how AI tools are advancing care delivery and addressing new legal dimensions around data privacy, liability, and training; the role that hospital boards play in investigating and resolving fraud and abuse issues; and the integration of compliance programs when an organization is involved in an acquisition or merger.
