PROUD Summer Series Kick-off Workshop – In-person Event Ahead of Summer Webinar Series

The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) are hosting a six-part webinar series, PROUD: Trauma-Informed Care, this summer.  Session topics will have a unifying theme of trauma-informed care and feature perspectives on infrastructure that supports a responsive system of care, the navigation of complex trauma, and the creation of environments that support best practices in caring for others.

Ahead of the first session of the virtual summer series, CHA and DMHAS are hosting an in-person, on-site workshop in Wallingford to introduce concepts that will be examined throughout the virtual series.  At this in-person, kick-off event, participants will explore the impact of trauma exposure on the overall health and well-being of patients and providers from an intergenerational lens.  Presentations will focus on key strategies to integrate culturally informed frameworks and trauma-informed care models into the care they deliver to their patients.  Topics to be covered include assessing risk and protective factors with an integrative trauma-informed approach to care; the intersection of pregnancy, trauma, mental health, and substance use disorders; and body movement strategies.

Parents Recovering from Opioid and Other Use Disorders (PROUD) is a SAMHSA-funded program of DMHAS to educate those in the caring professions on support strategies that help families succeed.
