Comptroller To Host Second Healthcare Cabinet Summit

On Wednesday, January 22, Connecticut Comptroller Sean Scanlon will unveil the 2025 Healthcare Cabinet Report at the second collective meeting of the cabinet’s members.  The working group comprises hospital leaders and practitioners, healthcare advocates and organizations, and state policymakers.

Scanlon has cited increased Medicaid reimbursement for hospitals and other providers as one of the cabinet’s key priorities during the 2025 Legislative Session.  He also said the Healthcare Cabinet will be reviving a proposal to allow small businesses and nonprofits to buy into the state health insurance plan.

At the summit, co-chairs from the cabinet’s eight subcommittees are expected to outline their recommendations to improve healthcare delivery and better meet the needs of Connecticut patients, sharing continued statewide efforts to advance healthcare access, equity, and affordability.

The eight subcommittees are focused on: Workforce, Children’s Health, LGBTQIA+ Health, Mental Health, Urban Healthcare: Affordability and Accessibility, Urban Healthcare: Equity and Disparities, Rural Healthcare, and Women’s Health.  Subcommittee members include representatives from Connecticut hospitals and health systems across disciplines.

The event will take place at the Connecticut State Capitol on Wednesday, January 22.
