Experts say prevention is key when it comes to Powassan because there’s no treatment or vaccine.

“Take the precautions,” said Dr. Ulysees Wu, the chief of infectious diseases at Hartford Hospital. “They should put on the tick repellent. They should wear the clothes where they should easily be able to see these ticks and wear clothes that would protect them as well.”
