Rise in CT scans causing thousands of cancer cases, experts warn

Tens of thousands of people are developing cancer every year as a result of the overuse of CT scans, new research has warned.

Computed tomography scans use radiation to take detailed internal images of the body. They are used to diagnose conditions including cancer and heart disease or to detect broken bones after an accident.
