BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — There are minimally invasive breast cancer treatments, but there are times when a woman may choose to or have to have a mastectomy. Both breasts are removed in this surgical process.
After a mastectomy, some women choose to have breast implants, while others choose a surgery called a DIEP flap procedure. It involves a surgeon taking tissue from a woman’s own abdomen and using it to form new breasts.
