Since the bankruptcy of Prospect Medical Holdings nearly led to the closures of three hospitals, some state lawmakers have suggested banning private equity from hospital ownership. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) is now taking up legislation at the federal level to limit private equity’s role in healthcare. Murphy, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, also weighs in on the war in Iran.
