HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) is bracing for the potential loss of hundreds of millions of dollars as a result of the budget reconciliation bill passed by the Republican majorities in Congress and signed by President Trump last week.
At the monthly Council on Medical Assistance Program Oversight (MAPOC) meeting held Friday afternoon, DSS leaders discussed the impact that the recently passed HR 1 – which President Trump refers to as the “Big Beautiful Bill” – will have on programs ranging from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to Medicaid coverage to funding for Planned Parenthood.
