HARTFORD, CT — With some Connecticut families struggling to afford clean diapers, advocates and lawmakers are calling on the General Assembly to support funding for a program to provide diapers to families earning less than 200% of the federal poverty level, or about $62,000 for a family of four.
House Bill 5486 would provide $1 million in grant funding for a new Diaper Partnership Grant Program. The program would support efforts like Diaper Connections, a partnership between the Diaper Bank of CT and the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA). The proposal passed the Human Services Committee Thursday and is now headed to the House floor.
