HARTFORD, CT — Opioid overdoses may be trending down, but state officials are preparing for a spike in cases as the weather warms up.
On Tuesday morning, state officials from the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection joined officials from the Connecticut National Guard Counterdrug Program, Connecticut State Police and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to highlight efforts to increase the availability of naloxone, an opioid antagonist used to reverse drug effects and potentially save the life of someone who has overdosed.
