The head of a union representing nearly 1,000 workers at Manchester Memorial and Rockville General hospitals said his organization welcomed any agreement that empowered Attorney General William Tong to “have the backs” of healthcare workers at the two facilities. The hospitals recently became part of Hartford Healthcare.
“The healthcare workers at these facilities have weathered years of instability during the Prospect Medical Holdings bankruptcy process,” said Bill Garrity, vice president for healthcare of AFT Connecticut, which represents about 30,000 teachers, school support staff, nurses and healthcare workers in the state. “Our goal is to ensure they are empowered to advocate effectively for themselves and for the patients they serve.
