Connecticut nursing shortage prompts new training programs

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) – Connecticut hospitals are running short on a critical resource: nurses. It’s part of a national shortage that’s also short on solutions, but one university is preparing students to help solve the crisis.

By 2030, health experts predict the U.S. will be short more than 63,000 registered nurses. Connecticut is already feeling it. Of the state’s 90,000 registered nurses, only about half are actively working.
