CROMWELL, Conn. — As a triathlete, Bobby Nims of Haddam has experience with long roads, including the one he’s been on for the past 10 months.

Nims, 42, fell victim to a violent anaphylactic reaction after eating a cookie containing tree nuts to which he is highly allergic.
