Becker’s Hospital Review – Thursday, April 2, 2026

As thousands of internationally trained healthcare workers are stuck in visa limbo, a new $100,000 fee for H-1B visa petitions could further destabilize the workforce, the American Hospital Association said in an article on its website.
In September, President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring employers to pay a $100,000 petition fee for H-1B visa applications. The fee previously was approximately $3,500. The H-1B visa program is dedicated to specialty occupations such as healthcare and technology.
