Greenwich Hospital opens new occupational medicine office

Greenwich Hospital has opened a new occupational medicine office just behind its main campus, consolidating services and closing a satellite location in Stamford.

The 206-bed hospital launched the 2,679-square-foot office at 49 Lake Ave. When fully staffed, it will include a physician, two medical assistants, a registered nurse, a manager and a respiratory fit tester. The hospital is still hiring for several of those roles.

The office had been located inside the hospital, but administrators moved it off-site after announcing plans in July to build a Smilow Cancer Center within the facility, spokesman Tyler Landis said. The hospital also closed a Stamford satellite office that had provided occupational medicine services to local residents.

“We saw an opportunity to enhance our footprint and ensure easier access for our employees,” he said. “This move is significant as it not only offers more convenient access for our employees but also opens up opportunities for retail businesses from Greenwich and neighboring towns to avail of our services.”

Greenwich Hospital, which has 1,800 employees, is owned by Yale New Haven Health, which has eight occupational medicine offices across the state.
