WALLINGFORD – The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) issued the following statement regarding the murder of a visiting nurse in Willimantic:
“Our hearts go out to the family of Joyce Grayson and we offer our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her. Our entire state, and the entire healthcare community, is mourning the loss of someone who dedicated her life to caring for others. This was a horrific act of violence. Healthcare workers are five times as likely to experience workplace violence as other workers nationwide. Connecticut hospitals and health systems remain committed to continuing their extensive work in partnership with policymakers and communities to stop violence and increase safety in all healthcare settings, including the home. Connecticut cannot waver in the work it has done, and must do more to protect and support the healthcare workforce.”
