CHA Applauds Comptroller Scanlon’s Efforts to Increase Healthcare Access, Workforce Support, and Medicaid Reimbursement

January 22, 2025

WALLINGFORD – The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) released the following statement in response to the 2025 Comptroller’s Healthcare Cabinet Report released today:

“We applaud Comptroller Scanlon’s efforts to ensure Connecticut remains laser-focused on making healthcare more accessible, affordable, and equitable for every resident and community.  The Healthcare Cabinet Report reflects months of collaborative work between healthcare providers, patient advocates, educators, and other stakeholders and we appreciate the diversity of perspectives reflected in these proposals.  All these voices agree that action is needed to increase Medicaid reimbursement and address a significant funding gap that creates barriers to care for patients.  We appreciate Comptroller Scanlon’s commitment to tackling this issue as a top priority.  We also commend recommendations to address disparities, mental health, women and children’s health, rural and urban healthcare, and to support the healthcare workforce through proposals that would increase access to workforce training, reduce barriers to education, and enhance recruitment in high-demand fields.  We look forward to continuing to work on solutions with Comptroller Scanlon and state lawmakers and leaders who are deeply dedicated to building a healthier future for Connecticut’s caregivers, patients, and communities.”
