Join us for CHA’s 2018 Regulatory Compliance Conference. This year’s Conference offers a full-day of regulatory compliance education related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender patients (“LGBT” is an umbrella term that generally refers to a group of people who are diverse with regard to their gender identity and sexual orientation).

The LGBT community has historically experienced a variety of discriminatory behaviors in seeking healthcare services resulting in a long-standing distrust of the healthcare system, putting their health at risk in profound ways. To ensure quality of care, all patients, regardless of social or personal characteristics, should be treated with dignity and respect, and feel comfortable providing any information relevant to their care, including information about sexual orientation and gender identity; healthcare professionals face regulatory compliance
demands to eliminate such discrimination.

The Conference’s objective is to provide attendees with practical guidance on understanding educational, operational, and legal enforcement issues, the need to balance those issues—and sometimes competing interests—that can arise when establishing the policies and systems required to provide a welcoming and inclusive healthcare environment for patients and families of the LGBT community.

This Conference is intended for hospital staff looking to obtain more information and awareness around serving the needs of this diverse population, including but not limited to those in patient and family experience roles, community health, clinical leadership, direct care staff, as well as legal, risk, compliance, IT, health information management, communications, and human resources.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m.
