HARTFORD, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont credited hard work and clever negotiation between the legislative and executive branches for passage of “an honestly balanced budget” that did not raise residents’ tax rates.
“It’s a budget that’s based upon, I think, a pretty conservative set of assumptions,” Lamont said during the briefing in his Capitol office. “We’re assuming that sales tax does not go up. We’re assuming that income goes up about 3.7%, which I think is a modest assumption unless we have a recession. Everything we’re trying to do is about opportunity and affordability.”
