Wendy Kilis

Main Lobby Concierge, Safety and Security

Hospital for Special Care

Wendy is the first person that our patients and visitors at Hospital for Special Care see when they enter our doors. As the main lobby concierge, she is the primary triage coordinator, greeter, and gatekeeper. She is also the eyes and ears for any potentially concerning behaviors. During the busiest times of the day, Wendy has a constant flow of people who all need to be directed in different directions. Anyone entering a hospital is probably not at their best and feeling anxious and worried. However, Wendy always stays consistent with her approach. She knows everyone’s name who visits regularly or has regularly scheduled appointments. She prepares their visitor badges ahead of time to expedite their entry. She greets them with a smile and friendly conversation that immediately makes their day brighter. When they are apprehensive about their own appointment or concerned about a loved one, she immediately puts them at ease. To our inpatients, some who live at Hospital for Special Care for years, Wendy is a beacon that they gravitate to when they are out on the campus. On our recent Joint Commission survey, the surveyor said, “I can tell what kind of an organization I am entering from their reception staff and Wendy told me all I needed to know!” We consider Wendy a healthcare hero as she brings joy to so many in our Hospital for Special Care community each day!
